“This grant made it possible for me to achieve Level I and Level II Cancer Coach Certification. … I encourage all of my colleagues to further their education and competencies in their careers with the assistance of the Fredrickson-McGregor Education Foundation.” – Tracy Stephens, LPN
Alberta’s Licensed Practical Nurses are urged to take advantage of the Foundation’s Education Grant Program to receive up to $1000 per year in tuition reimbursement for continuing education courses.
Application Deadlines occur quarterly: April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31.
Popular areas of study include Foot Care, Gerontology, Immunization, IM/ID Injections, Infusion Therapy, Leadership, Mental Health, Orthopedics, Palliative Care, and Research.
Funding for Bachelor-degree programs is also available for those that “support LPNs remaining in the profession”. For example, a Degree in Human Service Administrator.
The Fredrickson-McGregor Education Foundation for LPNs administers the Education Grant Program on behalf of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). In 2006, the CLPNA received a $3.3 million endowment from the Alberta government to support continuing education needs of LPNs.
